InvestBio Portfolio Company AmpliMed Corporation Announces Promising One-Year Survival Data
Tuesday, February 26, 2008; Diversified Private Equity Corporation (DPEC Partners)
Data from Phase I/II Study of Amplimexon® in Treatment of Metastatic Malignant Melanoma. NEW YORK CITY – AmpliMed Corporation, an InvestBio, Inc. portfolio company, recently announced one year survival results of Phase I/II trials of Amplimexon, its lead drug candidate in treating stage III or stage IV metastatic malignant melanoma (in combination with dacarbazine). Metastatic melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, affecting approximately 8,000 patients per year in the United States. Data from the Amplimexon phase I/II trials suggests that the drug had relatively infrequent side-effects, even when administered with full-dose chemotherapy. Some patients with less advanced disease in the 50-patient pool, treated with a combination of Amplimexon and dacarbazine had a survival advantage of 11.7 months, compared with approximately eight months for dacarbazine treated historical controls.. more >>

InvestBio Portfolio Company Presents Phase I/II Trial Results of Vaccine for Leukemia at American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting
Friday, February 29, 2008; Diversified Private Equity Corporation (DPEC Partners)
To Date, InvestBio has Raised $20 Million for The Vaccine Company (TVC); TVC Now in Phase III Trials. NEW YORK CITY – Results from a clinical study using technology licensed by The Vaccine Company (TVC), an InvestBio, Inc. portfolio company, were presented at the 49th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology. The company’s PR1 peptide vaccine is derived from two proteins that are either overexpressed or aberrantly expressed in certain cancer cells. Administration of the PR1 vaccine to some patients elicits the proliferation of, PR1-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes that selectively kill three types of leukemia - myelodysplastic syndrome, acute myelogenous leukemia and chronic myelogenous leukemia. In the Phase I/II study, the median time in remission for leukemia patients who responded to the PR1 vaccine was three times longer than for non-responders. . more >>

AmpliMed Corporation Announces Promising 1-year Survival Data from Phase I/II Study of Amplimexon(R) in Metastatic Malignant Melanoma
Thursday, January 3, 2008; Yahoo Finance
AmpliMed today reported one year survival results from a Phase I/II trial of its lead drug candidate, Amplimexon® (imexon for injection) in combination with dacarbazine in patients with unresectable stage III or stage IV metastatic malignant melanoma. Results from the full cohort of patients in both the Phase I and Phase II shows a 11.7 month overall mean survival for the entire patient set and a 22 month overall mean survival in the subset of patients with normal LDH levels. This compares favorably to historical controls of 8 months and 10 months, respectively, for patients treated with dacarbazine alone.
"The impact on overall survival demonstrated by Amplimexon in these trials is very promising and supports the need for a larger, randomized trial," said Ronald Garren, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of AmpliMed. "Amplimexon could represent a significant advance in the treatment of melanoma for which there have been no new treatments approved in the last decade." . more >>
